Canadian-born midfielder and former Feyenoord star Jonathon de Guzman has signed with La Liga side Real Mallorca through summer 2013. This comes after the 22 year-old’s contract expired with Feyenoord, and de Guzman refused to sign a new contract with the club.
Coach Michael Laudrup is thrilled with the signing and knows the talented de Guzman will have a positive impact on Mallorca’s midfield play. De Guzman is the first new player added to Laudrup’s roster during this summer transfer season.
De Guzman also received offers from teams such as Valencia, Hamberg, Espanyol, and more, but found Mallorca as the best fit.
