Maicon moving to Madrid

Inter right back Maicon is ready to move to Real Madrid, where he will play for former manager Jose Mourinho. Maicon has been a target for Madrid for some time now, but the two clubs could not come to terms with a fee. It is believed they have finally reached a deal of €28 million plus bonuses. The Brazilian back must now agree to personal terms with Real Madrid. He is expected to demand a four-year deal worth around €6 per year.
Maicon's transfer to Real Madrid is a bit curious, as Los Blancos already have Sergio Ramos, who is considered to be one of the top three right backs in the world. Even if Maicon represents an upgrade, Ramos has shown he is beyond capable. €28 million does not seem like a smart move when Real Madrid already have a world-class right back. Like Manchester City, Real Madrid are attempting to buy their way to titles, and so far, both clubs have been unsuccessful.
